Tlc: Basilicata first region to complete plan for Bul

Ryanair bets on Italy, 5 billion ready but government needed (ANSA)

(ANSA) – POTENZA, 10 FEB – Basilicata will be the first region of Italy to complete the ultra-broadband (Bul) plan which will equip 103 Lucanian municipalities, included in the so-called “market failure areas”, with a technology of data transmission entirely in fiber, for an investment of 24 million euros. The digital infrastructure has already reached 60 thousand real estate units in the region, compared to the total 66 thousand envisaged in the public project launched by Infratel (Mise in-house company) and coordinated by the Basilicata Region. At the moment, 75 municipalities have been completed by the Open Fiber dealer.

The company (60% Cassa Depositi e Presiti and 40% Macquarie) deals with the national coverage of the latest generation fiber optic networks and also invests entirely private funds in Basilicata: 17 million have been allocated for fiber optic coverage. of Potenza and Matera.

Currently, between the Lucanian capital and the Città dei Sassi there are about 45 thousand real estate units reached by an infrastructure capable of returning connection speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second. Private investment therefore adds to what has already been done in the less populated areas, the “white areas” hitherto lacking ultra-broadband connections, with Basilicata on the national podium in terms of very high-capacity telecommunications networks.

In perspective, thanks to the funds deriving from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and the “Italy a 1 giga” plan, by 2026 another 160 thousand real estate units in the region will be covered with optical fiber, which will completely cover the territory with a further investment of approximately 90 million euros. The call linked to the PNRR was launched in recent weeks and will be awarded between spring and summer 2022. (ANSA).
