(ANSA) – MILAN, 02 MAR – Italgas strengthens its partnership with Picarro through the acquisition of a minority shareholding in the US company. The investment was acquired with an outlay of 15 million dollars (13.5 million euros at current exchange rates), paid in cash, and led to the entry of Paolo Gallo, CEO of Italgas, into the board of directors of the company. . Picarro is a technological start-up and world leader in the field of sensors applied to the monitoring of gas distribution networks as well as in technologies intended for those sectors characterized by the need for extremely sensitive measurements, such as environmental measurements on the concentration of hazardous atmospheric pollutants (Hazardous Air Pollutants) and the electronics industry for the detection of impurities in environments dedicated to the production of semiconductors.
The presence in the shareholding of Picarro as the only industrial partner (the other shareholders are the founders and venture capital funds), will allow Italgas to contribute to the further development of the technological solution for measuring fugitive methane emissions, now at the center of the European targets for decarbonisation.
