The European Union imposed sanctions against the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus and banned the provision of euro banknotes.
This is stated in the message of the European Commission.
It was also decided to disconnect from the international system SWIFT “Belagroprombank”, “Dabrabyt” bank and the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus.
In addition, the sanctions include a ban on operations by the Central Bank of Belarus related to the management of reserves or assets, as well as the provision of public funding for trade and investment.
Sanctions against the Central Bank of the Russian Federation
Earlier, similar sanctions against the Central Bank were introduced by the EU and the United States. Thus, most of the Central Bank’s reserves turned out to be blocked and this hit the ruble exchange rate hard.
Previously, the Central Bank supported the ruble thanks to these reserves, and now the currency has gone to “free swimming”.
Sanctions against the Central Bank were introduced even by Japan, which had not resorted to such steps before.
Segodnya also wrote what is happening with the ruble on the stock exchange and told how much dollars are being sold to Russians.
