Enel, 210 billion by 2030 to decarbonise

(ANSA) – DUBAI, MARCH 13 – “If we solve the problem of how cities can become more sustainable, we will have solved in a very high way the problem of how the whole world can become more sustainable” and in Enel’s vision, “the way where we can achieve this has to do with the decarbonisation and electrification of cities. This is truly a global priority. In this scenario, the Enel Group will mobilize investments of up to 210 billion by 2030, of which 170 of our investments and 40 from third parties. This has to do with supporting decarbonisation and the electrification of consumption “. This was stated by Michele Crisostomo, president of the Enel Group, speaking at the “On the road to Sustainable City” event organized by Enel X at the Italian Pavilion of Expo 2020 Dubai.

“Cities are crucial” to achieve sustainability “because over 70% of annual carbon emissions and two thirds of global energy consumption come from cities, and they produce 50% of global waste,” Chrysostom stressed. “And to support the decarbonisation of energy supply, we will advance our zero-emission commitment by 10 years, from 2050 to 2040, for direct and indirect emissions. The value created by the group for consumers is estimated to lead to a reduction of up to 40%. energy expenditure together with up to 80% reduction of the carbon footprint by 2030. These are the benefits of the energy transition based on the electrification of consumption “. (HANDLE).
