Icam: turnover rises to 189 million (+7%), driven by sustainability

(ANSA) – MILAN, MARCH 21 – Icam, a historic Lombard company in the production of chocolate, celebrates its 75th anniversary with positive results and a strong push towards sustainability. In fact, 2021 closed with a net improvement in turnover, which reached 189 million euros, an increase of 12 million (+ 7%) compared to the previous year and even 40% compared to just six years ago. A particularly satisfactory result that allowed to reach 60% of the foreign market – particularly fond of organic and fair trade cocoa that Icam works in quantity – and 40% of the Italian market.

The year of lockdowns and the upheaval that the pandemic crisis brought to the markets, however, also represented an important opportunity for Icam to look at its modus operandi and redefine a new corporate identity linked to sustainability. A project that has deep roots in the history of the company, but with an eye to the future, which takes the name of ‘Chocolate by Nature’ and which speaks of the respect that the company for 75 years, through the Agostoni family that has takes care, turns towards the raw material, cocoa.

An approach that the company, he specifies, has always pursued, but which has decided to reaffirm through the concrete commitment to enhance cocoa “as the main element of the broadest respect that the company addresses to the entire supply chain, to take care of people who work it, in the countries of origin such as in the Orsenigo plant (Como), to cultivate cocoa and produce chocolate while maintaining the delicate balances that regulate our planet and always looking for the most innovative technologies thanks to which it is possible to deal with efficient of the other three elements “.
