(ANSA) – ROME, MARCH 31 – In February there was an increase of 81 thousand employees over January and a growth of 777 thousand units in February 2021. Istat notes this, underlining that the employment rate rises to 59.6%, a record level from the beginning of the time series. The unemployment rate is fixed at 8.5% with a decrease of 0.1 points on January and 1.7 points on February 2021. In the month there is a boom for temporary workers, which increase by 133 thousand compared to January and by 504 thousand units on February 2021. Permanent employees in employment decreased by 109 thousand units on January while increasing by 112 thousand units on the year. “Compared to January 2021 there are almost 850 thousand more employees – comments Istat – more than half are temporary employees with an estimate of almost 3 million 200 thousand, the highest value since 1977. Compared to the pre- pandemic (February 2020), the employment rate, equal to 59.6%, is 0.6 points higher (record since the beginning of the historical series), the unemployment rate fell from 9.6% to 8.5 %.
