(ANSA) – TRIESTE, 31 MAR – Developing synergies in the field of decarbonization, with particular reference to alternative fuels, carbon capture and renewable energy in the naval sector: this is the objective of the memorandum of understanding signed by Rina, an inspection multinational , certification and engineering consultancy, and Fincantieri, world leader in the design and construction of ships and supply of complex technological systems.
Specifically – explains a joint note – the agreement envisages “initiatives linked to scouting in the technological field, to the analysis, study, and simulations of new fuels or energy carriers, in particular hydrogen and ammonia, and to carbon capture”. The collaboration will include “activities dedicated to the approval in principle, that is with a risk-based approach to classification that allows to validate new designs and unpublished concepts on the basis of equivalences in terms of safety, and to the qualification of innovative projects and technologies” . The two companies will focus on offshore plants for wind energy and on technological solutions dedicated to energy produced by wave motion.
“We intend to play an active role in promoting a circular and low-carbon economy by reducing the impacts directly generated by production activities, developing eco-sustainable products and services and collaborating with prestigious institutions and partners such as Rina in this case”, says the CEO of Fincantieri, Giuseppe Bono.
“With Fincantieri we share the same vision on decarbonisation: a path necessary to build an increasingly sustainable industry”, observed Ugo Salerno, president and CEO of Rina. (HANDLE).
