(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 06 – Provide local administrators with the tools necessary to make cities truly sustainable and improve citizens’ awareness of environmental issues. These are the objectives of the first course in Italy on ecological transition dedicated to public administration, launched by JTI (Japan tobacco international) Italy and Save the Planet Onlus. The initiative, carried out in collaboration with Anci, Mims and Mite, has collected over 100 subscriptions in just over two weeks. The project, the promoters explain, is completely free and is available online from the beginning of March for all employees of the public administration.

Citizens are “the fundamental drivers” to “truly transform the places we live in sustainable spaces”, explained the CEO of JTI Italy, Gian Luigi Cervesato. As for the corporate objectives, he specified: “We have decided to make challenging commitments, to become carbon neutral in all our activities by 2030, up to completely zeroing emissions along the value chain by 2050”. The initiative aimed at the PA is in addition to the previous activities on sustainability resulting from the collaboration between JTI Italia and Save the Planet Onlus, such as the Sustainable Cities project, aimed at promoting local activities to make cities more environmentally friendly and inclusive, and the anti-littering campaign # IoLaButtoLì.
