The state of the fuel market

The site “Segodnya” asked the deputy director of the Scientific and Technical Center “Psyche” Gennady Ryabtsev about the situation on the Ukrainian fuel market. He noted that it is difficult, but controllable.

The expert stressed that shortage of autogas and A-92 there will be no gas stations in Ukraine – cheaper fuel can be ordered in Europe at affordable prices, as well as A-95 or A-95+.

He called on the government strengthen government regulation in the field of fuel, in order to avoid unreasonable price increases for gasoline, diesel and autogas. Gennady Ryabtsev stressed that the Defense Forces and farmers use the A-92 and autogas. Now it is necessary to provide gas stations with these types of fuel, given the war and the beginning of the sowing season.

At the same time, Sergey Kuyun, director of the A-95 Consulting Group, noted that traders need to increase imports through the western border and abandon the state regulation of prices for filling stations. He said that in Ukraine there is a controlled deficit, which in April may increase due to the sowing season and the destruction of oil depots by the occupiers.

“Free pricing will make it possible to remove at least commercial risk from suppliers. Alternatively, it is possible to fix the current regulated markup of 4.5 and 5 UAH/l of gasoline and diesel fuel, respectively, but not to the regulated cost, as it is now, but to the actual one, which is easy to establish according to documents”Kuyun suggested.

Previously, we compared prices at gas stations in Ukraine and Poland. The Ministry of Energy is looking for opportunities to diversify the areas of fuel supply.
