On Monday, April 18, Monobank co-founder Oleg Gorokhovsky announced that the bank would close accounts for some of its clients and stop servicing them. This was due to the war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine.

Now this decision has been somewhat changed. The Today website will tell you who can still be left without cards, and for whom the restrictions have been lifted.

Who planned to close accounts

First, Monobank stated that stop serving customers who were before the war and still have not left these territories:

  • Russia;
  • Belarus;
  • Crimea;
  • “L/DNR”;
  • North Korea;
  • Syria;
  • Eritrea.

In general, the accounts were to be closed for 11,251 people.

“They were recommended cards of the Mir payment system. I urge other Ukrainian banks to follow our example,” Gorokhovsky wrote on his Facebook.

Who will be served

Later, Gorokhovsky said that many clients ask not to close the accounts of residents of the temporarily occupied Crimea, Lugansk and Donetsk regions. In this regard, the banker conducted a survey. According to its results, the bank changed its decision.

“Thank you to everyone who took part in the survey. I would like to see the number of people who do not agree with this decision. Of course, we will not make a decision that causes dissatisfaction among more than 30% of respondents. We will not close the accounts of clients who left for Crimea before February 24 and in ORDLO,” Gorokhovsky said.

So now from the list of persons whose accounts will be closed, those who arrived in the temporarily occupied Ukrainian territories before the start of a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation were excluded.

Oleg Gorokhovsky was included in the list of enemies of the Russian people

Earlier we said that the co-founder of Monobank was included in the list of enemies of the Russian people of the so-called Committee for the Protection from Traitors.

“Gorokhovskiy Oleg Vladimirovich is a Ukrainian banker. He expresses hatred for the people of Russia. He calls the Russian people “fascists” and “stupid animals” because their country is conducting a special operation to protect the civilian population in the Donbass” – this is how they describe me in a message on the site, ” he noted.

Gorokhovsky also wrote that he should be welcomed with such an event.

“I’m proud, to be honest!” he said in a message.

Segodnya also wrote why the purchase of a stamp with the phrase “Russian warship, go fuck yourself” was limited, and what was the dollar exchange rate in Ukrainian banks on Tuesday, April 19.
