Long weekend of April 25, 7.7 million overnight stays with star cities of art

Di Maio in Congo:

(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 22 – The recovery in tourism continues with numbers close to pre-pandemic levels on the long weekend of April 25 after the slowdown in the first quarter but the summer game is still to be played. This is estimated by Cst for Assoturismo Confesercenti, based on a survey conducted with Ipsos, which provides for 4.9 million overnight stays in Italian hotel and non-hotel accommodation facilities, including holiday homes and short-term rentals, to which another 2.8 million overnight stays must be added. in second homes.

Driving the recovery, in this bridge, are once again the cities of art, which remain the privileged destination, also due to the uncertain weather and the still not very hot temperatures, which penalize the regions of the South and the Islands, as well as seaside resorts and – albeit to a lesser extent – countryside destinations. Especially families and friends move around, with travel groups, on average, made up of three components. Overall, 85% will choose a traditional accommodation facility (hotels, B & Bs, campsites and farmhouses), while the remaining 15% will settle in a holiday home or short-term rental apartment.

Encouraging results, therefore, which confirm the spring return of tourism after the slowdown in the first quarter of the year, which had recorded a subdued performance, with 16 million fewer visitors than in the first three months of 2019. And that do not yet seem to have had a positive impact on the next summer season. Only 36% of Italians (40% in the Northern regions) have already booked their holidays for this summer, choosing an Italian destination in 7 cases out of 10. Those who have not yet booked, on the other hand, are waiting mainly because they have not yet defined the destination (44%) or the period of their summer holidays (31%). But for many, it is precisely the summer vacation that is in question: 18% are not sure they will take a trip this summer. A significant share – equal to about 4 million Italians – which is affected by the climate of uncertainty, mainly economic, caused by the rush of energy prices and inflation. To these is added a 7% – 1.5 million Italians – who have already decided that they will not take holidays. (HANDLE).
