A recession in Italy “is unlikely”, that in Ukraine “is a very serious conflict, a terrible event, but it is limited and at the moment it does not have the global dimension that the 2009 financial crisis or the pandemic itself had”: it has said the governor of the Bank of Italy Ignazio Visco in an interview with Tg3.
Visco also explained that “for the next few months we would continue to have high gas and oil prices, they will fluctuate around these high levels and then fall during the second half of the year, and more decisively at the end of the year”.
“Italy is certainly capable of withstanding” the weight of sanctions against Russia “and I believe that we can also keep our nerve, with particular attention to the weakest sections of the population who will be most affected”, added the governor of the Bank of Italy
