(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 24 – The workers of Covisian and Almaviva today demonstrated in front of the Cathedral to protest against Ita’s behavior in the call center dispute.

The airline, controlled by the state, had deserted the table convened by the government last week, reporting 150 direct-call hires aimed at internalizing the service. “Work cannot be touched” is one of the most shouted slogans, together with “Shame Shame” and insults at the top of Ita. 543 workers are at risk of dismissal. The dispute concerns 221 Covisian operators who would be blocked from May 1st and 322 from Almaviva on layoffs.

Ita Airways reacted by explaining that it was not present at the ministerial table because it considers itself the “injured party” following Covisian’s “unilateral breach” of the call center supply contract and holds the company solely responsible “which has not given following neither the contract signed with Ita nor the agreement on the social clause relating to Almaviva employees “. The Sicilian Region for its part has asked for a “resolutive table”. (HANDLE).
