(ANSA) – ROME, APRIL 29 – Agreement between OPTA and Deltafina for a new path for the Italian tobacco supply chain. This was announced by a press release from JTI which underlines how thanks to the agreement reached with the cooperatives ARPT and AGRICOOPER of OPTA and with other historic Umbrian producers of Deltafina, it will be possible to kick off the Virginia tobacco cultivation campaign for 2022, which JTI Italia has already committed to purchasing over 8,000 tons.

As part of the agreement, the note continues, “a state-of-the-art price adjustment system is envisaged which, starting from constant monitoring of production costs, aims to achieve equilibrium and the sustenance of the supply chain by recalibrating contractual rates. and avoiding that these burdens fall entirely on the producers “.

“JTI Italia can only be enthusiastic about the agreement reached between Opta and Deltafina, two large companies in the sector that have maximized their efforts to provide the right continuity and safety to the entire tobacco supply chain – commented Gian Luigi Cervesato, CEO of JTI Italy underlining that: “JTI has collected the needs of the supply chain, guaranteeing continuity through an additional contribution for the 2021 harvest to support the increased transformation costs deriving from the international situation.” (ANSA).
