May 1st in the city of peace. CGIL, CISL and UIL are preparing to celebrate the day with the traditional event that this year takes place in Assisi, in Piazza San Francesco. Not a random place to ask for an end to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine. After two years of pandemic, but today with the tragedy of the conflict that has been going on for two months now, the unions are back on the streets, together. Among the fears caused by the war but also by the economic and social situation. With inflation galloping and eroding the purchasing power of wages and pensions, the slowing down of GDP and the increases that are discharged on bills and spending. A situation of which the government is well aware, so much so that it is working on new aid for families and businesses, with another decree coming next week, already expected in the Council of Ministers on Monday. And on which the unions ask for discussion, before and not after the decisions.
And it is on the salary question that the game is more open than ever, after the long-distance clash, not appeased, between the Minister of Labor, Andrea Orlando, and the president of Confindustria, Carlo Bonomi. The minister does not listen to us talking about “blackmail”, after the proposal to link part of the aid to companies to the increase in wages and points out that “a great battle is needed to recognize the dignity of work”, starting precisely with wages , to combat precariousness and inequalities and to move forward on the Italian path of the minimum wage (linked to contractual minimums). There are also distances when it comes to cutting the tax wedge. An intervention in this sense could come with the new decree, after the reduction of 0.8 points in the contributions to be paid by employees with incomes up to 35 thousand euros already in the last maneuver, allocating one and a half billion. Confindustria is asking for a structural cut in the contribution wedge of 16 billion. And “it must not be done with bonuses and a one-off: state alms”, warns the president of the Young Entrepreneurs, Riccardo Di Stefano, rejecting the hypothesis of a 1-1.5 billion intervention.

CGIL, CISL and UIL with the general secretaries Maurizio Landini, Luigi Sbarra and Pierpaolo Bombardieri are preparing for the demonstration in Assisi, which will be followed by the big concert in Piazza San Giovanni in Rome: initiatives that return to the streets after two years of off limits due to of the pandemic.

After two years “remotely”, due to a pandemic, the May Day Concert is back as usual in San Giovanni in Rome. And the square is ready to accommodate up to 300 thousand people, finally without capacity limits and without restrictions. To do the honors there will be Ambra Angiolini for the fifth consecutive time, flanked by Bugo in the first part of the event promoted by the unions, which will be broadcast live starting at 3.30 pm on Rai3, Radio2, Rai Play and Rai Italia. In all there will be about 50 artists who will take turns on the stage of San Giovanni for what wants to be a collective management, in which everyone will have space for a thought or reflection. The slogan chosen this year by the event is “To work for peace”, because as the organizers explained, if on the one hand there is the joy of returning to the streets after two years of pandemic, on the other there is the anguish of what is happening a few steps away from us. The war in Ukraine cannot leave us indifferent and as the only symbolic international guests – thanks to the collaboration of Siae – there will be Go_A, the Ukrainian band that represented the country at the last edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. These are all the artists expected on stage: Marco Mengoni, Go_A, Gazzelle, Carmen Consoli, Ariete, The Representative of the list, Luchè, Coez, Venerus, Mace feat. Rkomi, Venerus, Gemitaiz, Colapesce, Joan Thiele, Psychologists, Rancore, Mara Sattei, Bresh, Tommaso Paradiso, Rkomi, Ornella Vanoni, Rovere, Fabrizio Moro, Orchestraccia, Sinkro, Enrico Ruggeri, Deddy and Caffellatte, Mobrici, Coma_cose, Max Pezzali , Fasma, Bigmama, Mecna, Vibrazioni, Claver Gold, Luca Barbarossa and Extraliscio, Angelina Mango, Hu, Notre Dame de Paris with Riccardo Cocciante, Mr. Rain, Bandabardò & Cisco, VV.
