(ANSA) – FERMOY, 02 MAY – The interest of the Russian market for Italian shoes, and for those of the Marche in particular, is unchanged, but “the problem is how to process the payments for orders that have been brought home”. The vice president of Assocalzaturifici Valentino Fenni says this to ANSA, taking stock of the Obuv in Moscow, one of the largest international footwear and leather goods fairs, attended by about fifty Italian entrepreneurs, despite the war in Ukraine and the sanctions against Russia, arousing not a few controversies. The sector asks the government for “immediate and extraordinary measures”. “We just have to hope that the war will end as soon as possible”, says Luca Guerrini, director of Blue star which produces men’s shoes in Montegranaro (Fermo). which speaks of “an insurmountable block” for payments. “Let’s start, for example, with the down payments that must be paid on an order – explain Fenni and Guerrini -. In general, 20-30% is paid so that our companies can start production. The point is that Russian customers go to their banks. and make the transfer, but the transaction is blocked in Italian credit institutions and often refused and returned to the sender “. In this way “the Russians find themselves for a few weeks without their liquidity and we are waiting for a transaction that practically always fails, with the result that the order is blocked and therefore lost”, underline the two entrepreneurs. “All this risks making us lose our customers forever”, adds Guerrini, who recalls instead that there are markets, “Turkey and China above all, ready to take over, given that they do not apply any sanctions and transactions between these countries and Russia are allowed. ” (HANDLE).
