In Europe, gas price reaches $ 1000 for the first time

In Europe, on September 28, the exchange gas price broke a new record – it reached $ 1,031 per 1,000 cubic meters.

This is evidenced by Ice Futures data.

Thus, since the beginning of trading on September 28, gas prices have increased by 11%.

Note that this price became a record for Europe, because on September 9, 2020, gas in Europe cost $ 13.18 kWh or $ 161.3 per 1,000 cubic meters.

At the same time, the price of gas in Europe has officially surpassed the previous all-time high set in March 2018.

According to experts, the reasons for the growth were: bad weather conditions, stable reductions in the supply of liquefied gas from 2020 and a decrease in reserves in gas storage facilities below the level of 2019-2020.

What will happen to gas in Ukraine

Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmyhal, during a summer press conference, assured that Ukraine’s own gas production will fully cover the needs of the population on the eve of the autumn-winter period. According to him, the price of gas for household consumers will not be revised at least until May next year, while the annual tariff is in effect.

Shmygal claims that preparations for the heating season are proceeding according to the schedule, and the power system is 90% ready for it, more than 18 billion cubic meters of gas have been pumped into the storage facilities, which is the highest figure in the last 10 years for the current period.
