Numbers for some cars will change: which characters will be subject to a strict taboo

The Russian occupiers, who made a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, made the letters Z and V symbols of fascism and symbols of all their crimes against Ukrainians during this war. Consequently, the deputies decided to remove them from the license plates of electric vehicles.

This is stated on Facebook of the deputy from the Servant of the People faction Igor Fris.

What changed

In 2020, symbols for electric vehicles were approved in Ukraine. Among them are the letters Z and V. For example, Z means Zero emission, that is, “zero emissions into the atmosphere.” Such signs distinguish electric cars from other cars and give them certain benefits: free parking at electric car charging sites, entry into ecologically clean areas, and so on.

However, after the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, these symbols acquired a new negative meaning for Ukrainians, so there was an initiative to remove them from license plates.

Igor Fris said that, together with lawyers, he sent an appeal to the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a request to remove these letters from all electric vehicles. To which the department responded positively.

“The ministry has taken managerial decisions aimed at non-proliferation of symbols used by the armed and other military formations of neo-Nazi totalitarian Russia in the war against Ukraine. Already from Monday (May 9, 2022), it will be possible to register an electric car by choosing a state license plate with a suffix that starts with the Latin Y. In Cyrillic, it reads as U – Ukraine“, – stated in the MP’s notice.

Petrol Crisis in Ukraine

Earlier we said that the Ministry of Economy introduced new changes during the petrol crisis.

Now the average price of a liter of gasoline is UAH 31.19, and diesel fuel – UAH 35.63. This means that, taking into account the trade margin, gas stations can sell gasoline at 37.69 UAH/l, and the diesel at 42.63 UAH/l.

We also wrote that all the problems in the supply of fuel lie in the change in logistics. If earlier Ukrainian traders bought it in Belarus, Europe and received it by sea, now only one of the three routes remains – the European one.

Plus, the destruction by the enemy of the Kremenchug Oil Refinery and about two dozen oil depots on the territory of Ukraine led to a sharp decrease in fuel stocks.

Ukrainian companies have already contracted a sufficient amount of gasoline and diesel fuel, but now it is a big problem to deliver it to Ukraine. The fact is that many Ukrainian wagons and tankers simply do not meet European requirements for the transport of dangerous goods, and the existing fleet is still not enough.

“We expect the situation at gas stations to normalize by the end of the month. Prices will depend on world prices, but we do not expect serious fluctuations of more than 10%. Therefore, until the end of May, fuel at gas stations will be sold at UAH 40-42 per liter, with possible fluctuations of 10% as up or down. Everything will depend on fluctuations in prices on world energy exchanges,” Sergey Kuyun, director of the A-95 consulting company, explained to us.
