A22: the Concession proposal presented to the Ministry

(ANSA) – TRENTO, 11 MAY – From the early afternoon the project finance proposal presented by Autostrada del Brennero with the aim of obtaining the new concession for the A22 is on the table of the Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructures and Mobility. The top management of the company personally handed over the investment plan, which is worth a total of 7.2 billion euros. “This is a historic step. Today – is the comment entrusted to a note from the CEO, Diego Cattoni – we present a proposal that will redesign mobility along the Brenner-Modena axis, a volume of investments that multiplies by more than three times, at current values, what was put in place for the construction of the motorway “.

The proposal delivered today represents an absolute novelty in the Italian panorama both for the method used, that of project finance, and for the content: the development of the first “Italian Green corridor”. The three-lane widening of the Verona-Modena section and the completion of the third dynamic lane on the Bolzano-Verona section will be accompanied by the systematic extension of the technology necessary for autonomous and connected driving, already successfully tested by Autobrennero within the C-Roads project. and other European projects and the development, alongside the refueling network for battery electric cars, of charging points for hydrogen vehicles.

The plan also provides for the financial contributions necessary for the completion of the motorway network with Campogalliano-Sassuolo and Cispadana and for the development of intermodal hubs that allow railway operators – the Autobrennero Group is the first private operator in the freight sector – to perfectly integrate their services with road transport as well as, in the case of the port of Valdaro, with sea transport. In addition, the ordinary roads leading to the motorway will also be affected and the refurbishment of the service areas or the doubling of the current number of kilometers of sound-absorbing barriers is planned.
