Fair: Transpotec Logitec kicks off in Milan with 80% of the market

(ANSA) – MILAN, MAY 12 – Transpotec Logitec, the four-day event dedicated to road transport and logistics with more than 350 brands, 15% from abroad, kicks off at Fiera Milano. The manufacturers of heavy vehicles were present, representing more than 80% of the market.

Logistics closes 2021 with a turnover of 86 billion euros, approaching 87 in 2019 after a slightly downward 2020. Road transport continues to represent the preponderant part of the dynamics of transport, with over 80% of goods traveling by truck.

The event returns to Milan after several years “with a great ambition: to become an international reference event for freight transport”, underlined the managing director and general manager of Fiera Milano, Luca Palermo. At the fair, he explained, “we also do policy: in these days we will talk about this fundamental sector, the backbone thanks to which, during the pandemic, we had primary goods. Now it faces great challenges: energy transition and digitalization “.

The president recalled the problems that afflict the sector: “there is a lack of 20 thousand workers in transport”, in addition to the “shortage of fuel and components. This – he concluded – is the right stage to address these issues”.

After the difficulties of 2020, the market shows signs of a restart with almost 25 thousand registrations. According to data from Anfia, the association of the automotive industry, heavy vehicles grow by 22% in 2021 compared to the previous year, exceeding the value achieved in 2019 (+ 5%). With over 183 thousand vehicles registered, light commercial vehicles also recover 14.9% on 2020, even if they are still slightly down if we look at 2019. Finally, towed vehicles, with over 15 thousand registrations, are recovering both compared to 2020 (+ 32.3%) and compared to 2019 (+ 4.6%). (HANDLE).
