Gas: closed up (+ 11.5%) in Europe, at 104 euros per MWh

(ANSA) – MILAN, MAY 12 – The price of gas in Europe closed on a rise, while Germany announced that Russia has reduced supplies and Gazprom has announced that it will stop using a key gas pipeline for the transit of gas through Poland. In the meantime, the EU has decided that a price cap will be introduced only in the event of an emergency, i.e. a sudden interruption of the flow of Russian methane.

The reference index of the spot price, or futures in Amsterdam (+ 11.5%), stopped at 104 euros per MWh, after reaching 115 euros around 13.30. Also rally for the price in London (+ 15.21%) at 161p per Mmbtu (British thermal unit), after peaking at 196p at the same time. However, both values ​​are far from the peaks of last March 7, with the increases since the first days of the conflict in Ukraine, when they reached 345 euros and 800 pennies respectively. (HANDLE).
