Fuel shortage arose in Ukraine after the start of a full-scale war with the Russian Federation. Gasoline prices are rising, queues at gas stations are not decreasing, meanwhile the state is trying to find new ways to supply fuel.

However, war and gasoline shortages could create another shortage for electric cars. How this is connected, and what is the current situation, experts of the car market told UBR.

The gasoline crisis has increased the interest of Ukrainians in electric cars

Zakhar Pashun, the owner of the Elmob company for the import and sale of electric vehicles, said that after gas stations ran out of gas, sales of electric vehicles skyrocketed.

“Demand has grown a lot, our phone breaks even without advertising. In the first two months of the war, there was silence at all, but here all the cars were sold out a week later”– said Pashun.

At the same time, other experts say that there may not be a shortage of electric vehicles amid growing interest due to the fuel crisis. Since the situation at gas stations may soon stabilize, sales may fall.

However Not only the situation with gasoline can lead to a shortage of electric cars.

War with Russia blocked supply lines

Seaports have been blocked since the beginning of the Russian invasion. They were the main channel for the import of electric cars. There are almost no stocks left in warehouses in Ukraine. But it is very expensive to import a car along alternative routes.

All this leads to the fact that demand for electric vehicles may not be met.

“Most of the electric vehicles that came to us from China went to seaports that are currently blocked. At first, dealers still had some stocks, but now many of them have run out. on the other hand, the cost of logistics is very high”– said Oleg Omelnitsky, director of the information and analytical group Auto-Consulting.

In addition, some companies have more than just run out of stock. Many suffered from the fighting.

In general, as experts note, all these problems characterize the entire car market today.

Ukraine faces a shortage of cheap electronics

Earlier, “Today” wrote that the shortage of electronics may arise due to a sharp decline in imports and the destruction of stocks. The demand for equipment among Ukrainians has decreased by about 40%.

So, the Foxtrot company had a warehouse with equipment before the war 600 million UAH in Gostomel. But during the defense of Kyiv from the advancing Russian troops, the warehouse was destroyed, and now the company is selling the remaining goods in stores.

Co-owner of the network Valery Makovetsky confirms that there is no assortment, and predicts a deterioration in the situation in a month or two.

Comfy also says that the Ukrainian market already has a certain shortage of personal electronics. And the marketing director of “Allo” Artur Matkovsky believes that there will be very little on the market smartphones oppo and vivo, tablets, Wi-Fi routers, inexpensive laptops, drones and batteries.

It is quite difficult to import new equipment because of the war: ports are closed, air transport does not work. Distributors say they import 40-50% from the pre-war figure.

We also wrote that the shortage of gasoline in Ukraine affected the whole of Europe. The expert told Segodnya how the lack of gasoline in Ukraine will force the world to rebuild the entire logistics system.

We also talked about a large supply of fuel to Ukraine until the end of May, and how it will affect the shortage.
