(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 19 – Oil consumption in April lasted about 4.7 million tons, up 13.1% (+545,000 tons) compared to April 2021.

A result in line with expectations, explains Unem (Union energies for mobility) and “positively influenced by the Easter holidays, free, after two years, from restrictions on mobility, which favored the recovery of tourist flows and sustained consumption. of aviation and naval fuels, as well as those of road transport “.

Compared to the same pre-pandemic month (April 2019), when consumption exceeded 4.8 million tons), volumes are still 2.4% lower (-115,000 tons).

The consumption of petrol and diesel, with 2 working days less, amounted to a total of 2.6 million tons, of which 0.6 million of petrol and 2 million of diesel, an increase of 15.5% ( +351,000 tons) compared to the same month of 2021, and practically aligned (-0.4%) to the values of April 2019.

For May 2022 “the continuation of the recovery dynamics of fuel volumes is expected, albeit with less momentum, both due to the comparison with May 2021 affected by increasingly less stringent measures of the mobility of people, and to the economic situation linked to the Russian crisis -Ukraine, which weaken the economic and productive fabric, hindering exports and also penalizing consumption for the transport of goods “, observes UNEM.
