(ANSA) – ROVIGO, MAY 20 – A new Italian group is born in the cereals sector, with an agreement between the Venetian K-Adriatica, of Loreo (Rovigo), and the Marche Agroservice, in San Severino (Macerata), which gives life to a reality that controls about 60% of the national market for durum and soft wheat. In particular, the new group Agroservice Spa and Società Produttori Sementi Bologna, with the two brands Isea and Psb, holds a 35.8% share in Italy for durum wheat, and 20% (Isea and Veneto brands) for seeds. of common wheat. It is – explains a note – a new Italian reality that responds in a concrete way to the wheat crisis unleashed by the war in Ukraine.
“This agreement – explains Giovanni Toffoli, managing director of K-Adriatica – aims to develop a new Italian group with the aim of increasing the production and marketing of quality seeds of durum and soft wheat, precisely at a time when, due to the war in Ukraine, our country has a greater need for it. Italy imports over 60% of its wheat needs for food production. It is necessary to expand the production of these cereals for greater autonomy and not to depend on abroad “. (HANDLE).
