We analyzed fuel network apps for smartphones and figured out which of them allow you to purchase fuel, and which show gas stations with the presence of fuel

The fuel crisis in Ukraine continues. In order to fill the car with the coveted liters of gasoline, diesel or gas, drivers continue to stand in lines for hours. True, some gas stations have already begun selling fuel in applications for mobile phones and sometimes you can buy it, even if there are zeros on the gas station steles.
“Today” dealt with the functionality of applications for smartphones from the largest gas station chains.
How did we evaluate
Let’s say right away that we do not pretend to any long-term objectivity. The fact is that before the fuel crisis, each network pursued its own customer loyalty policy, which changed after gasoline disappeared from gas stations.
Now a number of gas stations have removed discounts for regular customers, someone has frozen the previously accumulated liters, and someone has completely spat on software support. Everyone understands that there is a war going on and a return to normal business will be possible only after victory.
Therefore, we evaluated the functionality of applications for smartphones only in terms of buying gasoline or diesel here and now, the availability of an up-to-date map of operating gas stations and the correspondence of information to reality.
Everything that we write has been tested on personal experience, on a phone with the Android operating system. We arranged all networks in alphabetical order so as not to single out someone separately.
BRSM
The functionality of the BRSM network application may seem quite good. First, it has the ability to purchase fuel. True, the validity period of such a purchase is only two days. That is, even if you are standing in line for gasoline, it is dangerous to buy it. Gasoline may run out right in front of you and you will have to look for a new gas station of this network in order to buy virtual liters.
Secondly, the application has a map indicating the availability of a particular type of fuel and its price. But it did not match the information in telegram channels about the availability of gasoline at gas stations. Although the pricing information is up to date.
The author did not have the opportunity to personally check all the gas stations of the network, but at one of them he saw a discrepancy between the real picture and the information from the application. It is worth noting that in the bookmark of each gas station there is an operator’s phone number. You can call for more information.
Energy
This application combines information from several networks at once, the so-called Privat group (Avias, ANP, etc.). From the good – you can buy virtual liters in it. Nothing was said about time limits.
The virtual card of the gas station also works. Separately, we note that gas stations are marked in orange, where gas is available. But we were unable to find gas stations with the presence of gasoline. Perhaps on this day there was nowhere in the presence of gasoline and diesel fuel.
KLO
The author used the application of this network of gas stations even before the start of the fuel crisis. Therefore, it can compare the functionality before and after the start of the war. On February 24, a message arrived that the loyalty system had been disabled.
After that, the information about the availability of fuel at gas stations was very poorly updated in the application. In fact, you can find out where the gas stations are physically located in it, but information about the availability of fuel and prices is not up-to-date.
For example, the appendix states that the capital’s gas station at 1D Bazhana Ave. has all types of fuel, and euro95 gasoline can be purchased at UAH 36.94 per liter. And the round-the-clock mode of operation indicated in the application suggests that the latest updates were even before the curfew was introduced in the capital.
From myself I will add that since the end of April at this gas station I have not seen fuel in free sale. At this gas station it was possible to buy only coupons.
OKKO
The Fishka app stopped selling fuel through the app a few weeks ago and hasn’t resumed it yet.
Of the pluses, with the application, you can fill up either 15 or 30 liters of fuel per refueling. The volume depends on how long you refueled at OKKO earlier.
“The longer you are with OKKO, the higher the limit is set for you. Do not forget to check your limit in the Fishka app before entering the gas station. The limit is valid for one gas station. The next time you can refuel after 3 hours, but no more than 3 times a day” , – reported in the company.
On the map in the application, you can find out at which gas stations there is definitely no fuel in free sale. On those where the fuel supply limit is indicated and a footnote that when the balance decreases below critical, the sale is suspended.
Shell
We did not manage to register in this application. The author tried several times to go through the registration procedure, once even received an authorization code, but then the server sent a message like “Oops! Something went wrong.”
SOCAR
The application of this company shows the availability of fuel at gas stations. True, on that day in the capital, only one gas station, according to the application, was in the presence of diesel fuel. It is not possible to purchase virtual liters in the application.
UPG
I installed the application of this network directly at the gas station on the Kyiv-Chop highway. The fact is that customers without identification were poured 10 liters of fuel, and the owners of the application – 20 liters each.
The application has a map of the gas station, indicating the availability of fuel. True, it is not updated very quickly. Several times I came to the gas station, where the presence of gasoline was indicated, but by the time of my arrival it was already running out for several hours.
It was impossible to buy virtual liters in the app. Looks like the feature is temporarily disabled.
WOG
In the Pride app, you can buy virtual liters of fuel. However, lately, drivers have been complaining that the network has begun to release virtual liters into the tank in the general queue with those drivers who refuel for cash. That is, when buying virtual fuel on a card, you can only fix its price for a while. There are no other benefits to this purchase.
The map of the gas station in the application is also present. True, it is worth noting that it is not very convenient to use it. But you can check the availability of fuel at the nearest gas station.
