Zerkal told how Russia can pay reparations to Ukraine

There are several ways in which Russia can pay compensation to Ukraine for the unleashed war in our country.

She told about it Elena Mirror, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Advisor to the Minister of Energy of Ukraine during the Kyiv Forum on Security Issues within the framework of the military cycle “Fight for Ukraine”.

Iraqi variant

Russia has reserves related to energy, from which reparations can be paid.

“Regarding Iraq, several resolutions were adopted and they began to pay compensation with 30% of the accruals on oil that was sold by Iraqi companies. Then they reduced this percentage to three and thus covered the reparations (for the attack on Kuwait – Ed.)“, Mirror said.

According to Zerkal, Ukraine does not need to create some kind of special body in order to achieve reparations from Russia.

“First of all, we need the help of our diplomats to work more effectively with our partners, because both the US and the UK are permanent members of the UN Security Council. Their position on how the next steps can be considered, which already need to be planned, here it is necessary that all lawyers get involved, who could give us advice, as far as the effectiveness of the work of this compensation commission, on how to organize a fund that should accumulate money“, Mirror said.
