In the southern regions of Ukraine, serious problems arose with the supply of vegetables due to the occupation by Russian troops. This can lead to deficiency of some vegetables.

Taras Vysotsky, First Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine, spoke about this in an interview with Ukrainian Radio.

The shortage, he said, will affect young onions, carrots and beets, which were grown in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.

“But if we are talking about annual consumption, then we do not see any threats of a shortage of basic food products,” Vysotsky said.

Potato will suffice for domestic consumption, and sugar beet can even be exported. Don’t worry about oil sunflowers are in stock.

“About 90% of what was planned to be sown this year has already been sown. 200 thousand hectares of spring wheat, almost a million of spring barley, 157 thousand hectares of oats, 50 thousand hectares of buckwheat, millet have been sown. Sugar beet has already been sown 182 thousand hectares, 4 million hectares of sunflower. In total, about 30 hectares have been sown, that is, the sowing has taken place,” the official reassured.

Harvest is exported to the Crimea

Earlier, a deputy of the Kherson Regional Council Serhiy Khlon said that the occupiers were literally robbing Ukrainian farmers. The invaders take away the harvest or force it to be sold for next to nothing.

Further trucks with our vegetables go to the annexed Crimeaand goods are not allowed into the territory controlled by Ukraine.

Most likely, this season will have to buy more imported products, which will immediately affect prices, such vegetables will be at least twice as expensive.
