After Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, for citizens forced to go abroad, many EU countries introduced free travel. It was possible to use it both in public transport and in international trains.

According to the official channel of the European Union on the support of Ukraine in Telegram, since June 1, 2022, five countries have decided to cancel travel on a free basis.

The changes apply to public transport in Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Switzerland and Germany. Ukrainians are offered a compromise option – to buy tickets at a discount.

For example, in the Czech Republic travel in any mode of transport will be charged at the level 7 euro (approximately UAH 31.76). In Germany it will be possible to buy a ticket for any public transport and regional trains for 9 euro (UAH 285.88).

Poland will keep free pass on some routes. These are the cities in the eastern border areas:

  • Dorogusk;
  • Helm;
  • Grubeshev;
  • Lublin;
  • Zagouge;
  • Przemysl;
  • Rzeszow;
  • Yaroslav.

At the same time, in most EU countries, the right of free travel for Ukrainians on the basis of a passport or a “zero” ticket is retained.

Card, cash and black market

The situation on the foreign exchange market of Ukraine is controlled, but now it works in four variations. Separate courses were established on the non-cash, card, cash and black markets.

Banker with 20 years of experience Andrey Oliynyk said that non-cash and card payments are primarily affected by export earnings, the volume of international assistance and settlements with Visa and MasterCard. At the same time, there was a huge demand for cash in the cash and black market. The restriction from the NBU and the conversion of payments received by Ukrainians into dollars also affect the exchange rate.

In the near future, the NBU should stop putting pressure on exporters in order to support the cashless market. The receipt of international assistance will positively affect the hryvnia exchange rate. It will not be superfluous to sell cash to banks from national reserves.

But there is no special influence on the black market now. In order not to lose too much on currency conversion, it is better for Ukrainians to refrain from such operations.

Earlier, Segodnya wrote about when Ukrainians will receive funding under the єPіdtrimka program and how internally displaced persons in Ukraine can apply for payments to a PrivatBank card.
