Green light by the Antitrust for the Bper-Carige merger. Bper will have to sell a business unit consisting of 48 branches located in Sardinia, Liguria, Tuscany, Emilia Romagna and Lazio to Banco di Desio e della Brianza. This was communicated by the Competition and Market Authority. The sale of the business unit is an “essential part of the operation” and “is capable of eliminating the competitive criticalities” on some affected markets that the operation presented in its initial configuration. The fears were in particular about bank deposits, loans to consumer households, loans to producer families-small enterprises and medium and large enterprises, managed savings (in turn divided into mutual investment fund management, management of individual base of movable assets (GPM) and funds (GPF) and management of complementary pension products), as well as administered savings.
According to the Authority, the sale of the branches is able to sterilize the effects of the acquisition of control of Carige in these markets.
