(ANSA) – ROME, 07 JUN – Summer 2022 increasingly in the name of normality. According to the survey by the Study Center of the Italian Touring Club on the travel programs of the community, 79% say they will “definitely” make a trip (it was 71% in 2021) while another 16% will “probably” (it was 20 % last year). Those who have already chosen to “certainly” stay at home are very low (1% against 3% in 2021) while 3% answered “probably not” (it was 6% last year). Overall, therefore, 95% have a positive attitude towards summer.
In the summer of 2022 the trend that started with the pandemic continues: 73% (it was 91% in 2021) will choose a domestic destination and those who go abroad (27%) will choose mainly trips to Europe (23%) while they are displacements of longer range are still residual. The preferred region of the Touring community is Trentino-Alto Adige, followed by Sardinia, Tuscany and Puglia. The sea remains essential in summer (47%, down compared to 2021 but still with percentages above compared to the pre-Covid period), there is a decrease in the mountains (20%, down compared to last year but still beyond 2019 levels).
There has been a marked recovery in urban tourism (14% compared to 9% in 2021 but still far from the 2019 data when it had reached 23%) while the positive trend of rural tourism and villages continues (9%, an increase compared to to previous years).
As regards the period of departures, the inversion of the classic summer season still remains: in fact, we will concentrate, in fact, mostly in July (31% compared to 36% in 2021 and 30% in 2019) and secondly in August ( 27% compared to 32% in 2021 and 36% in 2019). It should be emphasized that the share of those who choose shoulder seasons increases, perhaps to contain expenses given the difficult context: June (19%) in fact recorded a marked growth compared to previous years as well as September (16%).
