(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 08 – In April 2022, retail sales are estimated to be stationary in value compared to the previous month and a drop of 0.4% in volume. Sales of non-food goods decreased (-0.6% in value and -0.8% in volume) while those of food goods grew (respectively + 0.7% in value and + 0.2% in volume) . Istat indicates this, adding that in the annual comparison retail sales increase by 8.4% in value and 4.4% in volume.
Sales of non-food goods grow (+ 11.2% in value and + 9.3% in volume) while those of food goods increase in value (+ 5.5%) and decrease in volume (-0.8%) .
All forms of distribution, Istat still notes, are on the rise in the annual comparison, including on-line commerce which returns to rise after last month’s decline. Compared to April 2021, in fact, the value of retail sales grows for all forms of sale: large-scale distribution (+ 7.7%), businesses operating on small surfaces (+ 10.1%), sales beyond out of shops (+ 4.2%) and e-commerce (+ 1.9%).
