Eni: first hydrogen distributor for mobility in Venice

(ANSA) – VENICE, JUN 10 – The first service station open to the public for the refueling of hydrogen in urban areas was inaugurated this morning in San Giuliano in Venice. Present at the ribbon cutting were the mayor, Luigi Brugnaro, the general manager of Eni’s Energy Evolution, Giuseppe Ricci, and the CEO of Toyota Motor Italy, Luigi Ksawery Lucà.

The plant is equipped with two dispensing points, with a potential of over 100 kilograms per day, which can recharge cars and buses in 5 minutes. The Eni-branded station located in via Orlanda was totally rebuilt and reopened to the public last February.

As agreed between the Municipality, Eni and Toyota in 2019, the Japanese carmaker today delivered the keys of three hydrogen cars (Toyota Mirai) to the mayor; as many vehicles will soon enter the Kinto ‘car sharing’ circuit of the lagoon municipality.

“This is a cornerstone, – commented Ricci -.

We want to be protagonists in Venice and Veneto, to respond to the demand for sustainable mobility and energy transition “.

For Brugnaro, the new distributor “demonstrates how Venice wants to be the world capital of sustainability with facts.

This station will allow us to proceed swiftly in a hydrogen-powered public transport modernization plan in which we believe, and which we are carrying out also thanks to the PNRR. We must be predisposed to change, – he concluded – also taking risks. Projects are not enough, we must also make them concrete “. (ANSA).
