Italgas: Plan of 8.6 billion investments by 2028

(ANSA) – MILAN, 15 JUN – Italgas launches the 2022-2028 Strategic Plan with investments of 8.6 billion euros, which also includes activities in Greece through the subsidiary Depa.

The Group’s objective is “to complete the digital transformation of assets, to create one of the main players at national level in the energy efficiency sector and to continue to play a leading role in achieving EU climate targets”. With the new Plan, Italgas increased its commitment to development by € 0.7 billion compared to what was announced last year, with an increase of 8.9% on total investments.

Italgas’ 2022-2028 Strategic Plan focuses in particular on renewable gases (biomethane and hydrogen), destined, according to the ‘REPowerEU’ plan, to replace approximately 50% of the gas imported into the EU from Russia, equal to approximately 155 billion cubic meters in 2021. Italgas thus aims to be “the first gas utility in the world with a fully digitized network” and has allocated 4.5 billion euros for the Italian network, of which 1.5 billion for the digital transformation programs of the network, necessary to “effectively manage the distribution of renewable gases, mainly biomethane, synthetic methane and hydrogen”. Over 100 million euros are allocated to the latter to facilitate the connection of production plants to the distribution network, introduce ‘reverse flow’ technology (two-way flow, ed.) And develop ready-made systems and components for hydrogen ( hydrogen ready). (HANDLE).
