Is it dangerous to export currency? Why can customs seize all the money

President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on fines for exporting undeclared goods and foreign currency across the border.

This is evidenced by information about law No. 6051 on the website of the Verkhovna Rada.

According to the document, administrative liability for non-declaration of currency values ​​​​in the amount of more than 10 thousand euros per person involves a fine of 20% of the amountexceeding the amount allowed for export without declaring.

Please note that even the payment of a fine in itself will not be the basis for passing through the border without the relevant documents.

The head of the tax committee, Daniil Getmantsev, explained that this 20% fine would only be applied in case of non-compliance with the established form of declaring currency.

If you try to transport currency outside customs control, the fine will be already in the amount of 100% of the cost, and even with confiscation the entire amount of the currency.

However, the document provides for the possibility of peacefully resolving the issue with customs. If the offender pays the full amount of the fine within 30 days then law enforcement officers will stop the proceedings on the case of violation of customs rules.

Return of fines

On May 23, Ukraine resumed punishment for weight violation for drivers.

Penalties for overloading a truck will be imposed according to the following scheme:

• if it is 5-10% more than the established norm – UAH 8,500;
• 10-20% – UAH 17,000;
• 20-30% – UAH 34,000;
• over 30% – UAH 51,000.
