Gas: Descalzi, nothing to fear, supply higher than demand

CGIL, Piazza del Popolo turns red:

“At the moment there is no need to fear anything, only inaction. Optimism is made up of action. At the moment there is a shortage of about 30 million cubic meters per day of Russian but Italy is now able to have an offer of around 200 million”.
The CEO said so. Eni Claudio Descalzi talking about the availability of gas at La Repubblica delle Idee. “At the moment there is an offer greater than demand, 200 million of supply and 160 million of demand, the rest must go to storage because otherwise it comes out of Italy”, he added.
Descalzi highlighted in particular the increase in gas from Algeria. “Algerian gas, through the contracts we have signed, has more than doubled: at the moment the Algerian is giving 64 million cubic meters through pipes, 4 million through lng and probably millions more in the coming weeks through other agreements”.
“If they were to cut now we wouldn’t be ready.
We will begin to be ready for winter 2022-23. The hope is that the Russian flow can still be kept limited. Stocks are already at 54%, we should further force the arrival of gas from other countries and there will probably be a state of alert and some restrictions, but in any case we have a diversification that will make us spend the winter. That’s for sure. Better to have some more, but if it wasn’t there, I think that with a strong action that is guiding the government, I think we can get through the winter “, reassured Descalzi.
