What will happen to loans in Ukraine?

We already wrote that the National Bank decided to raise the discount rate to 25%. There were fears that the cost of loans in Ukraine would increase after that, but the regulator assured that this would not happen.

One of the reasons is that banks determine the cost of loans based on the actual cost of funding, that is, deposits of the population and businesses. In this case, banks do not focus on the size of the discount rate. Therefore, the NBU notes that lending rates will grow gradually and in proportion to the growth in the cost of deposits and mainly with the current spread between them.

Read in our material about what to do if you cannot repay the loan, and what forecasts regarding lending were given by the NBU.
