Only for Ukrainians: how to open a bank account in Poland

A bank account is also required to receive assistance to Ukrainian migrants

The Polish bank BNP Paribas offers to open an account specifically for Ukrainian citizens, in particular, to receive assistance. The procedure does not require much time and documents.

According to inPoland, an account will be needed for Ukrainian migrants who want to receive assistance for children or one-time assistance in the amount of 300 zlotys.

In order to open a bank account, you need:

  • fill out a short application on the bank’s page – provide your first and last name;
  • provide a phone number and mailbox.

Then the bank operator will contact you to confirm the application. There will be no problems with understanding the information, since the institution has Ukrainian-speaking consultants.

What documents are needed?

The bank has simplified the procedure for opening an account for Ukrainians “Konto Otwarte na Ciebe”. For this you need to provide:

  • identity card (passport for traveling abroad, residence card or temporary identity card of a foreigner);
  • Ukrainian tax number;
  • Polish phone number.

Help for Ukrainians in Poland

German charitable organization Diakonie Katastrofenhilfe will pay Ukrainians in Poland PLN 700 each (about 4.5 thousand UAH) and PLN 600 (3.8 thousand UAH) for every other member of the family.

The financial assistance program aims to support Ukrainians who fled to Poland due to Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Those who apply for financial assistance will receive a monthly payment of PLN 700 per person and PLN 600 for each other family member. Payments will be made for at least three months.

It is noted that Ukrainians in particular need are in priority for financial assistance. At the same time, even registration for participation in the program does not guarantee receipt of payment.

Recall that public organizations decided to pay Ukrainians in Poland with a Pole’s card 1,500 zlotys (11,400 hryvnias) for an adult and 750 zlotys (5,700 hryvnias) for children.

Earlier, we said that Ukrainians who came to Poland from February 24, 2022 will be given 10,000 special free cards of the Biedronka retail chain for shopping.
