In Ukraine, from May 1, a law has been fully launched that will change the system of payment for water supply and sewerage. Now residents of apartment buildings will have to pay not only for the consumed water, but also for intra-house water losses.

This is evidenced by the text of the Law “On commercial accounting of heat energy and water supply”.

This means that in houses where all apartments are equipped with cold water meters, the volumes of unbalance (difference) will be distributed between all consumers proportionate to the amount of water used.

If we are talking about a house where some of the apartments do not have appropriate meters, the volume of imbalance will be distributed among those consumers who do not have them, in proportion to the number of people who use the services.

That is, now, the entire volume of water that is supplied to an apartment building will be paid by the owners / co-owners of this house. Even if there are water losses in the house, for example, in basements, tenants will have to pay for them.

How not to pay more?

In order to prevent extra numbers from getting into your payment, the common house meter must be very close to the sum of indicators of individual counters.

To this end, the government advised audit of intra-house and underground communicationsto identify possible damage due to which excess water is escaping.
