(ANSA) – MILAN, JUN 25 – RCS Lab (RCS group) rejects Google’s accusations of “pirating smartphones”, stressing that its software for wiretapping, intelligence and data analysis is used to “prevent or suppress serious crimes such as terrorism, drug trafficking, mafia association, child pornography, corruption “. Just yesterday the US IT giant had explicitly included it among the operators suspected of “pirating smartphones and spying on their users in Italy and Kazakhstan” through a special software dedicated to TLC surveillance.

The clarification comes from Cy4gate which has controlled the company at the center of the spyware controversy since March, in particular after the mention of Google through its ‘Threat Analysis Group’.

The cyber surveillance market is growing rapidly and according to some observers it is not yet sufficiently regulated. For its part, RCS Lab “exports its products abroad in compliance with national and European regulations”.

“All commercial and sales activities – continues the Group – are carried out exclusively following formal export authorization by the national authorities”. Furthermore, the “products supplied to customers are installed at their facilities and the Rcs Lab staff is not allowed in any case to carry out operational activities in support of the customer or to have access to the data processed”, clarifies the Company that adheres to the Un Global Compact and, therefore, “condemns all forms of violation of human rights”.

“The products of RCS Lab – underlines Cy4Gate – are supplied with a clear, specific and exclusive purpose: to support the bodies responsible for the prevention and repression of heinous crimes”. The Group also claims to be “proud to offer its technologies at the service of law enforcement agencies in full compliance with current regulations, with great ethics and professionalism”. (HANDLE).
