(ANSA) – ROME, JUN 27 – In the first quarter of 2022 the price index for homes purchased by families grew by 1.7% compared to the previous quarter and by 4.6% compared to the same period of 2021, according to preliminary estimates by Istat. In particular, the prices of existing homes, which weigh more than 80% on the aggregate index, record the highest trend growth rate since the time series is available, + 4.5%. “Despite the climate of uncertainty and concern due to the conflict in Ukraine, the growth trend that started in the third quarter of 2019 is confirmed and consolidated”, comments Istat.

The prices of new homes are also on the rise, seeing a trend growth of 5%, slightly slowing down from + 5.3% in the previous quarter, which had marked an all-time high.

On the other hand, both for the overall result of the IPAB house price index and for the data on existing houses, this quarter marks the highest record since the beginning of the series, which began in 2010 (therefore with the first trend changes in 2011). ).

According to initial evidence, the growth concerns all territorial divisions.

“These trends are manifested in a context of persistent and lively growth in sales volumes (+ 12% the trend increase recorded by the Real Estate Market Observatory of the Revenue Agency for the residential sector, after + 15.7% of the previous quarter) “, writes Istat. (HANDLE).
