Francesco Billari new Rector of Bocconi from 1 November

(ANSA) – MILAN, June 27 – Francesco Billari is the new Rector of Bocconi University for the two-year period 2022/2024.

Currently Deputy Rector and Dean for the faculty, he will take office on November 1st, at the end of Gianmario Verona’s 6-year mandate. He was appointed by the University Board, on the proposal of the President Mario Monti, explains a note.

Graduated in Political Economy from Bocconi University in 1994, with a PhD in Padua, Billari was leader of a research group at the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock and Director of the Department of Sociology at the University of Oxford. He was President of the European Association for Population Studies and of the Italian Association for Population Studies. In the declaration of direction of the rector’s mandate, the main trajectories of the next two years will concern: research, teaching, social mobility, stakeholders.

“The challenge that I have the honor to take up, and for the opportunity of which I thank the President and all the members of the Board of Directors, is stimulating and ambitious”, declared Francesco Billari. “It is a question of contributing to the development of a global and inclusive university, always at the frontier in the search for original and relevant knowledge, and with a strong passion for teaching and for the growth of the new generations who will respond to the challenges of our society.
