Interruptions in the supply of auto parts to the Russian Federation led to a significant shortage of bumpers, glass and headlights, due to which prices sometimes rose six times above the recommended levels. This, in turn, provoked massive thefts, including headlights.

Photos and videos of cars without specific details are published on social networks. Recently, criminals have become more active in Yekatirenburg. They even joke about this situation: “Great idea for a startup.”

Also, most often cases of theft of parts from cars are recorded in Moscow and the Moscow region, St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region, in Tatarstan. Also, the Saratov, Ryazan, Kaliningrad and Murmansk regions have a high share (from 10% and above) of criminal events in the total number of hull claims.

In general, cases of theft of parts and attachments from cars, according to Rosgosstrakh, have been 47% more than a year ago since the beginning of 2022. First of all, easily removable elements are stolen – side mirrors, headlights, spare wheels, wheel covers, etc.

On the one hand, such criminal activity provokes a shortage of spare parts for cars due to disruption of supply chains due to anti-Russian sanctions, on the other hand, a decrease in the income of the population contributes to an increase in thefts.

Theft is associated not only with scarcity, but also with the cost of external body elements. As “Kommersant” writes, bumpers (front and rear) have risen in price most of all, regardless of the brand of car – by 34% and 32% respectively. Headlights also went up by 32%, fenders – by 31%, front doors – by 30%, hoods, rear doors and radiator grilles – by 29%. Least of all, glass went up in price – by 26%.

Problems with canned food in Russia

Earlier we said that the sanctions for the war against Ukraine led to the fact that the Russian Federation lacks elements and raw materials for the production of various goods. In particular, Russian companies do not have enough tin for the production of cans.

Prices for the cheapest canned food have already jumped by 28%. Now, in Russian supermarkets, a bank of sprats costs an average of 120 rubles (about UAH 55), and sprats 70 rubles (32 UAH).

The container itself has risen in price by 60-70%. Usually factories in the Russian Federation bought cans and tin for them in Europe, Japan and China. But now, due to sanctions, there are only supplies from China.

Also, problems arose due to the violation of logistics routes. The Russians are trying to find new suppliers, but it is very difficult to do so. The reason is also in the jumps of the ruble against the dollar this spring.

We also said that Russia is going to resume the production of “Moskviches”, and also wrote how Russia is being saved and where it has reserves from.
