Ukrainians are actively buying new cars: what brands are in trend (photo)

During June, Ukrainians were actively buying new cars. In total, 2.9 thousand new cars were purchased, which is 14% more than in May.

However, the June 2022 result is 67% less than the same period in 2021. These are the results of a study by the association Ukravtoprom.

Among the most popular manufacturers are foreign companies. In particular, the leaders in the number of purchases were Renault, Toyota and Ford. The first five positions look like this:

• Renault Duster – 168 units;
• Toyota RAV-4 – 118 units;
• Toyota Highlander – 114 units;
• Toyota Yaris Cross – 104 units;
• Ford Kuga – 84 pcs.

What cars did you buy?

Most often, different models of the Toyota brand were bought – 456 Japanese cars were sold in a month. The Renault sales indicator increased, which were sold in total 327 units, German Volkswagens began to sell more often – only 263 units per month.

The number of sales of Hyundai cars also increased (172 units). But Skoda began to buy less compared to May – a total of 168 cars.

Since the beginning of 2022, 17.8 thousand cars have received the first registration numbers. For martial law, this is a high figure, but 2.7 times less than in the same period in 2021.

“Euroblach” for 6 million

At the end of March, “zero customs clearance” was introduced in Ukraine. Until July 1, drivers could drive “Euro-plates” across the border without paying duties, excise taxes and VAT. During this period, the service was used 18.8 thousand times – as many cars were imported into the country.

The top three most popular in terms of the number of cars included: Volkswagen (3918 units), Skoda (2334 units) and Mercedes-Benz (1764 units). Ukrainians also preferred Audi, BMW, Ford, Opel, Renault, Toyota and Hyundai.

Most of all used cars are among those that are over 11 years old – 14,659. Cars aged from 6 to 10 years old were imported 2917 units, up to 5 years old – 1321. New cars of 2021-2022 were cleared by customs only 128 units.

In terms of cost, the vast majority of cars are up to 5 thousand dollars (14,284 units). The lion’s share was made up of cars worth up to 10 thousand dollars (2613 units), there were also 854 vehicles priced up to 15 thousand dollars. More than 15 thousand dollars had the cost of 1146 cars.

An entrepreneur from the Dnepropetrovsk region broke the price record and brought the most expensive car to Ukraine under “zero customs clearance”. This is a 2022 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG priced at $220,000 (UAH 5.9 million).

In total, the Transcarpathian customs officers released 18 cars for free circulation, the cost of which is more than 100 thousand dollars.
