Ukrainian employers will soon not be required to pay the average salary to employees who were called up for military service during mobilization.
The corresponding amendment to the draft law No. 7251 was made by the deputies of the Verkhovna Rada.
Until the innovation comes into force, all such employees retain not only their place of work and position, but also their average earnings, for the duration of martial law.
The document has not yet been signed by Volodymyr Zelensky, and it will gain strength only after the President’s assurance. When this happens, those called up during mobilization will keep only place of work and position.
“This practice, so that the employer continues to pay the salary of a soldier after mobilization, originated in 2014. At that time, there were not so many mobilized, and the state budget was not able or there was no political will to finance the military enough,” the deputy from faction “Servant of the People” Galina Tretyakova.
Tretyakova is sure that military personnel can now earn decent money without such a rule.
