Not a penny left: WOG warned drivers about the danger

Fraudsters came up with a new scheme to rob drivers during the fuel crisis, hiding behind the name of well-known companies

During the petrol crisis in Ukraine, a lot of fraudulent schemes appeared, and people can unconsciously become victims of scammers. On July 7, WOG warned of a new scam.

The press service told what the company’s customers should be wary of.

Fraudsters have created a fake resource

Appeared on the web clone of the official WOG online store. To inspire trust among users, the scammers added a link to the official website of the WOG filling station network and the Customer Support Center to the site. With the help of this resource, scammers steal money and personal data of customers.

“We draw your attention and once again urge you to buy coupons and fuel cards exclusively through the official representative offices of WOG, whose contacts are on the official website wog.ua. In no case should you contact third-party companies and do not buy by hand”, the company said in a statement.

The press release added that WOG does not sell fuel coupons and cards through third-party sites, Telegram channels, Viber groups, TikTok pages and other social networks.

“Also, we do not communicate in Telegram channels about the sale of fuel coupons, so we will be grateful for your active position and posting complaints about such publications. Don’t let scammers fool you” the message says.

How scammers cash in on fuel shortages

Previously, we said that the sale of coupons “from hand” has become a very frequent occurrence. But in this case, it is very easy to sell invalid coupons to drivers. You can check them only at gas stations or at the office of the issuing operator. And refunds for coupons purchased in this way are not made in gas station networks.
