After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, our citizens were forced to evacuate abroad, often in their own cars. Therefore, for them, some EU countries have canceled the requirement to have a “Green Policy”. But from July 1, some rules for Ukrainians in the EU are returning, including the rule to draw up a “Green Policy” in Slovakia.

This was reported on the NBU portal Financial Literacy Ukraine and explained how to issue an insurance policy.

You can get the document online

From July 1, Ukrainian drivers who are in Slovakia are required to have an insurance certificate “Green Card”. It was possible to travel around the country without it until June 30 within the framework of the benefits provided to our citizens.

“During this period, the Slovak Insurance Bureau provided assistance to Ukrainian drivers. The Bureau assumed the obligation to indemnify all losses caused to Ukrainian drivers during the period of stay in the Slovak Republic, without requiring compensation for such losses,” – noted in the NBU.

Now apply for a “Green Card” is recommended online from Ukrainian insurance companies. They provide a PDF document. At the same time, this can be done at the border. An approved list of insurers has the right to provide such a service, which can be checked at the link.

In general, the international agreement “Green Card” provides compensation for damage caused to life, health or property of third parties as a result of an accident. It can be concluded for the following periods:

  • 15 days;
  • 1 month;
  • 2 months;
  • 3 months;
  • 4 months;
  • 5 months;
  • 6 months;
  • Seven months;
  • 8 months;
  • 9 months;
  • 10 months;
  • 11 months;
  • one year.

If a Ukrainian driver became a participant in an accident in Slovakia, then the insurance company and the Slovak office of insurers must be informed about this.

EU adopts changes for Ukrainian driver’s licenses

Earlier, Segodnya wrote that in July the European Parliament supported a decision allowing Ukrainians to use a national driver’s license.

The innovation assumes that Ukrainian driving licenses are equated with European ones. Citizens of Ukraine who have received the status of temporary protection may not exchange their certificates for a European one, but use theirs to travel around Europe.

Read how the decision of the European Parliament will help Ukrainians and what to do if Ukrainian rights have been lost.

We also said that since July 1, “zero customs clearance” was canceled in Ukraine, and we wrote about 5 important types of insurance during the war.
