Life has become more expensive: how prices for products and services have changed

The State Statistics Service published data on how the consumer price index for goods and services changed in June

In Ukraine, inflation accelerated again. In the consumer market, compared to the beginning of 2022, in June it amounted to 17.4%, compared to May – 1.6%.

The new report of the State Statistics Service following the results of June tells about which of the products has risen in price more and how the prices for other services have changed.

How much do we pay for groceries now?

In general for food and non-alcoholic beverages from May to June prices rose by 3.2%. The following goods have risen in price the most:

  • eggs (17.2%);
  • sugar (10.9%);
  • vegetables (5.2%);
  • bread (3.9%);
  • meat (3.3).

Only 0.6% in June went up in price for milk and 0.3% for cheese and cottage cheese. But the only product that has fallen in price is fruit. At the end of June, compared with May, they had to pay 1.1% less.

How other prices have changed

As for housing and communal services, prices increased by only 4.7% for repair and maintenance of housing and by 0.5% for services for the management of apartment buildings.

At the same time, fuel and oil prices increased by 21.3% in June.

“Transport prices rose by 11.2% mainly due to a rise in the price of fuel and lubricating oils by 21.3%, as well as travel in road and rail passenger transport by 7.4% and 4.5%, respectively”noted in the report.

The cost of pharmaceutical products in June increased by 0.3%, and communications rose by 0.9%.

Eggs in Ukraine will become twice as expensive

Earlier we said that the price of eggs will start to rise from August. The reason is that in Ukraine the production of this product has decreased to a record high – by almost 25% compared to 2020 volumes. This is the last time such a rapid decline in production was recorded. about 20 years ago. So, the price can reach 40 UAH for a dozen.
