ANSA Lavoro – ROME, 11 JUL – The average gross salary per capita in 2021 was equal to 24,097 euros, including contributions to be paid by the employee, a value even lower than that of 2019 (-0.2%) linked to the fact that the part year (I only work for a fraction of the year) weighs more heavily because of the pandemic. It can be read in the INPS annual report in which it is emphasized that for women the salary is lower on average by 25% compared to that of men, also due to part-time work and working only for part of the year. The average wage of women in 2021 is € 20,415. Net of the effects due to these characteristics, the gap drops significantly: considering full-time full-year and permanent employees it drops to 8% of the total and 11% compared to males (in fact, the values are 35,477 euros for women, 38,686 euros for the total males and females, 39,973 for males).

“If the employment picture looks promising, writes the Institute, more worrying signs come from the wage dynamics”. The Institute underlines that the employees who earn less than 9 gross euros per hour in Italy are 3.3 million, 23.3% of the total (ANSA).
