In the summer, the fuel shortage in Ukraine eased: there were more suppliers, prices fell, and queues at gas stations disappeared. Consumption has also decreased. However, we mustn’t relax, as the petrol crisis may worsen ahead.

What awaits the drivers, the director of the A-95 Consulting Group Sergey Kuyun told the RBC-Ukraine agency.

It is difficult to make long-term forecasts, but the problem will definitely remain

The expert explained that the global oil market is changing dramatically due to sanctions against the Russian aggressor. No one yet understands how the rejection of Russian resources will affect the shortage of fuel in Europe and prices. But there will definitely be pressure on the EU, and Ukrainians will also feel it. And the greater the shortage of fuel in Europe, the more expensive and difficult it will be for us to buy it.

So far, the decline in the gasoline crisis is felt in our country. But the fact that there are no more queues at gas stations does not mean that the crisis has disappeared.

“This relative calm in the fuel market is deceptive. First, ahead of the harvest and the high season, when consumption in Ukraine can grow by a third. Therefore, now Ukrainian companies are faced with the task of ensuring even greater volumes of supplies,” Kuyun explained.

Secondly, there are import problems. Ukraine has created an increased demand for fuel, and in the neighboring countries where we supply it, all possible capacities are already overloaded. There is another aspect: seasonal consumption is also growing in these countries, so it is likely that their governments will try to limit supplies to Ukraine in order to meet domestic needs.

“Under such conditions, it will be very dangerous for us to live with illusions and believe that the fuel crisis is over. On the contrary, it is already necessary to work on diversification and expansion of supply chains. And not only business, but also the state needs to work on this. We need an effective dialogue with governments of countries through which we can increase the supply of petroleum products”, Kuyun emphasized.

Autogas prices rolled back

Over the weekend of July 9-10, the average price for autogas at Ukrainian filling stations decreased by UAH 0.52/l to UAH 36.61/l.

For example, in the UPG network, autogas has fallen in price by 1.5 UAH/l, up to 35 UAH/land at the gas station “Ukrgasdobycha” – by 2.00 UAH/l, up to 36.00 UAH/l. Read in detail what happens to fuel prices at other gas stations.

Segodnya also wrote that the scammers came up with a new scheme to rob drivers during the fuel crisis, hiding behind the name of well-known companies. WOG has warned drivers about the danger and how to protect themselves from it.

what kind of surprise at a gas station can happen for a driver and who should pay the victim in an accident if the culprit does not have or no longer has a motor vehicle citizen.
