Courses in driving schools: how much does it cost to learn to be a driver in Ukraine

Driving a car is a rather useful skill in the modern world, because it opens up the opportunity to comfortably drive out of town, drive children to school or shop in a supermarket for a week or two at once.

The editors of “Segodnya” have collected information about what types of courses are offered in different cities of Ukraine, which provide programs and how much they cost.

Lviv

The driving school in Lviv offers different types of courses for clients – elementary, teen, basic, professional and winter, as well as courses for motorcyclists.

The initial course is designed for drivers without experience or adults who decide to learn how to drive a car – the cost of 8 lessons with practice is from 4.8 thousand UAH for a client’s car and from 7.8 thousand UAH for a car school. They also offer an extended course for beginners in theory (UAH 4.5 thousand) and practice on mechanics or automatic machines (from UAH 9.6 thousand) – a total of 10 lessons.

For teenagers, they offer a program of 5 lessons for 10 hours. The cost is from UAH 3,000 for a client’s car and from UAH 5,000 for driving schools. The main course is designed to improve the knowledge and skills of drivers – these are 6 lessons, costing from 3.9 thousand UAH.

The professional course provides for the study of extreme driving – the price for 3 classes is from 4.2 thousand UAH. For fans of motorsport, individual sports training is arranged – from 2.5 thousand UAH per lesson.

Kyiv

In the capital, driving courses of category “B” in one of the driving schools provide for four programs – “Minimum”, “Basic”, “Standard” and “Advanced”. There are discounts for online learning.

The minimum program includes 20 practical sessions of 45 minutes each. for drivers with certain skills and a driver’s license, the cost is UAH 13,000. “Basic” is designed for drivers with average skills, these are 30 driving lessons for 16 thousand UAH. “Standard” – 40 practical lessons for 19 thousand UAH for drivers with stable skills. The extended one costs UAH 22,000 and is designed for beginners – it includes 50 practical lessons and theory.

Separately, you can order additional practical classes for 1.5 hours each at a price of 800 UAH (sedan) or 900 UAH (crossover).

Uzhhorod

There are also driving schools in the regional center in Transcarpathia, where drivers of category “B” are trained. The study lasts 3 months, students can choose one of the 5 cars of the school for practice. Cost – 5.5 thousand UAH.

Separately, you can buy the course “Mechanic for car repair”. The study lasts 5 months, the cost is 5 thousand UAH.

Khmelnitsky

There are more than ten certified driving schools in Khmelnitsky, which offer courses for a period of 1.5-2 months. The price starts from UAH 7 thousand, the average market price is UAH 11 thousand. Usually, training on a car with an automatic transmission is 500-700 UAH more expensive than on a mechanic.

The city also has a popular network of women’s driving schools, where female instructors teach. The cost of the course depends on the skills and needs of the clients, on average up to 12 thousand UAH. You can order separately only a theory course online for 4.7 thousand UAH.

Driving school changes

On July 24, new rules for obtaining a driver’s license will come into force in Ukraine. If earlier drivers were trained for two months, and then Sony gave two exams, now the process will be divided into two stages for a month – separately theory and practice.

Accordingly, candidates for drivers will have to take exams after each stage. The theory exam will continue to take 20 minutes – that’s 20 questions with the possibility of making two mistakes. The certificate of successful theory examination will be valid for one year.

During this time, you can apply to a driving school for practical training. Upon completion, a certificate will be issued, which will be valid for two years.
